Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about TinyApplause.
General
TinyApplause is a peer recognition platform where team members send each other "applause" — short appreciation messages. It's designed to make recognition simple, visible, and part of your team's daily rhythm.
Any team member can send an applause to a colleague with a short message, an optional emoji, and an optional org value (like "Teamwork" or "Innovation"). Applause shows up in a shared feed where others can react. That's it — no points, no badges, no leaderboards.
Gamification turns recognition into a competition. We believe appreciation should be genuine, not strategic. When you remove scores and rankings, people recognize each other because they mean it — not because they're chasing a badge.
A #kudos channel in Slack has a few problems:
- It gets buried. Recognition messages compete with everything else — threads, links, memes, alerts. Yesterday's shout-out is gone by tomorrow.
- No structure. There's no way to filter by team, tag, or value. No search. No history you can actually browse.
- No visibility. Only people in that channel see it. TinyApplause gives you a Wall of Applause you can put on a TV in the office — no login required.
- No insights. Slack can't tell you recognition trends, who might be getting overlooked, or which values your team lives by most.
- No ownership. A Slack channel belongs to Slack. TinyApplause is a dedicated space your team owns for recognition — it signals that appreciation actually matters.

Features
A public, read-only page that shows your org's recognition feed. It's protected by a unique token (no login needed) and designed to run on an office TV or dashboard. It auto-refreshes so new applause appears in real time.
Values are org-defined cultural principles — things like "Teamwork," "Innovation," or "Customer Focus." Each value gets an emoji icon. When someone sends applause, they can optionally tag it with a value to highlight which principle was demonstrated.
Tags are admin-defined categories (e.g., Engineering, Sales, Design) assigned to members. They let you filter the applause feed to see recognition for a specific group.
Yes, both — on every plan, including Free. When someone receives applause, a notification is posted to your configured Slack or Teams channel, and anyone can recognize a teammate right from Slack with /applause. You get visibility where your team already chats without losing the structured, searchable history in TinyApplause.
